Portland's Northwest District / Nob Hill: Portland residents
refer to it as the "Trendy-third Avenue" possibly of the
many turn of the century Victorian homes or trendy shops. It is also
referred to as the 23rd or the "Northwest." or Nob Hill
named so after the trendy San Francisco area. Portland's Nob Hill
is the location for the city's best shopping running for the ten blocks
of Northwest 23rd Avenue between Burnside and North West Northrup
streets. It is also the location for some of the Portland's best dining
spots in the Northwest. The area is made accessible by Portland's
new streetcar line that began in July 2001. The streetcar connects
the Northwest District with downtown Portland. Finding a home in the
area can be expensive with condos starting in the high 200s and single
family homes range from $600,000 to over million.
